Angel Tree

Matthew 25:35-40  35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’

Rarely do we get such an easy and fun way to demonstrate the love of Christ.  The children of those who are incarcerated often have very little to look forward to on Christmas.  However, we have a chance to change that.  We can step in and with a little generosity on our part, make Christmas special for these kids while simultaneously reminding these families of the gift that God gave us on Christmas.  Just visit the angel tree in our lobby on Sunday and pick out an angel, which represents a child, and use the information provided to purchase gifts for that child.  The gifts will be delivered to the families, along with a Bible, in time for Christmas.

Many families are still reeling from the destruction of the floods that hit the lewis county area this summer.  This is not a traditional angel tree, but many of our neighbors and friends still need basic necessities as they seek to rebuild their lives.  We have partnered with the Family Resource Network in Lewis county to identify some of the most pressing needs of families right now.  This is an opportunity to meet real physical needs for families who are staying in hotel rooms, campers, or homes that need repairs.  Visit the dedicated flood angel tree in our lobby to get involved.
